HISTORY
In April 1959, the first Camino Real
hotel opens on the northwestern part of Guadalajara, in the municipality
of Zapopan, Jalisco. It was built on a wide extension of land known
as “La Bagatelle”, which belonged to Pedro Javelly,
Sr., who had once cultivated up to 33,000 rose bushes in this place.
In those days, Camino Real was outside
the city, but the city grew, the communication routes improved,
and the prestige and service quality of Camino Real made the hotel
accessible for a larger number of guests. Therefore, the number
of rooms was increased from 40 to 205.
Camino Real was the name of the route
that joined San Antonio, Texas and Mexico City in colonial times.
Now, hundreds of years later, Camino Real Guadalajara became a point
or reunion for all Latin American nations in 1991, since it housed
18 Latin American, Spanish, and Portuguese leaders. It has been
the official hotel of the Mexican President, as well as that of
other leaders, and it was the headquarters of the ’70 and
’86 Soccer World Cup, as well as of the ’99 Confederations
FIFA Cup.
ARCHITECTURE
The architectonic design was made
by Luis Martínez Negrete, based on the utilization of the
large green areas, namely an extension of 40,000 m2, with more than
three thousand m2 of lush gardens and recreation facilities that
give our guests the chance to feel free in a natural atmosphere.
